SeaPerch

This week SeaPerch was quite eventful for EEs but not very much for MechEs. To MechEs went and took a quiz on something that everyone referred to as the Chapter 6 Packet. The quiz was three questions long. The EEs however went into groups to finish the SeaPerch Control Boxes. My group finished ahead of everyone by a lot, however we found out that we started off using a faulty joystick. Our teacher told us that it would be too time consuming to take everything apart and to desolder it. Instead we will just get a pre-made one instead. We also started working on our stripping wires that were contained in a bigger wire, one that has the exact end of an RJ45 cable, more commonly known as an ethernet cable. Then we used a different stripper for the smaller cables.

M.A.T.E.

This week M.A.T.E. has been very full of work. We were very productive at the meeting this week, both Scout team and Ranger. We appointed our lead Electrical Engineer today. All EEs were supposed to write down key terms from the REV 2 Control Box for the Triggerfish ROV. Me and one other person worked on it. After showing it to our teacher I asked if whether or not if we could start the Control Box as the Ranger team did with the Rev 3 Box. She let us so us EEs made progress on the control box. We add the heat sink and put together most of our Simulator Board by attaching the four 1000 Ohm resistors and the LEDs. Our Job Safety Officer, Numa, violated the safety code by handing the soldering iron to her partner, Sporthy. You are supposed to put the iron in it's place and have them take it out of it's place if you want to give it to someone. The MechEs used the 3d modeling program called TinkerCad to model what our ROV frame will look like. I checked in with them and found out that they have finished about 50% of it.
